What we will cover:
• Split Willow Frames and Ribs
Learn to make split willow frames and ribs using traditional tools such as a froe and draw knife. This hands-on approach will provide a strong foundation for understanding the structure and stability of frame basketry.
• Frame Basketry Weaving Techniques
Learn weaving techniques specific to frame basketry, including “packing,” a method used to build up the weave where needed to fill and complete the frame effectively.
Throughout the course, you’ll gain insight into material selection, and the nuances of working with willow to create a versatile and elegant tray that’s perfect for practical or decorative use.

I offer one-to-one and one-to-two tuition at my home workshop in Forfar, Angus. My teaching focuses on making strong, functional baskets while also offering the opportunity to play with colour and pattern. I teach beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
