EXHIBITION INFORMATION

Baskets on Display:

Heritage Basket: made with the NE coast technique that (as far as I’m aware) is not being made/taught at present. It’s not an exact replica of size and shape, more an initial exploration of the technique.

Contemporary Basket: this basket has been woven using the beautiful frame style developed and taught by Anne Mette Hjornholm that showcases present-day techniques.

‘PERTHSHIRE OPEN STUDIOS’

Momentum Pottery | Alyth, Perthshire| September 2024

Join us at Momentum Pottery during the last weekend of the Open Studios Festival.

This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the creative magic of four talented makers who have been exhibiting together for a number of years.

Throughout the weekend, you can enjoy live demonstrations of pottery, willow basketmaking, and stone carving. There will be Raku firings happening daily from 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm (except on Sunday, when the last firing is at 3pm). Get hands-on by decorating your own pottery piece and watching it transform during the firing process!

Maria Nordgren -Pottery
Christine Flynn’s – Pottery
Rachel Bower – Willow Basketmaking

David McGovern – Stone carving

Momentum Pottery is usually open by appointment, so don’t miss this special chance to visit during the festival.

To find us, take a left at Lunans Newsagent as you enter Alyth, and we’re the third house on the right. Please note that front yard parking is reserved for disabled visitors, but there’s plenty of parking available nearby on the street or in Alyth Square, just a short stroll away.

Come along and be a part of this creative celebration!

BASKETRY: RHYTHM, RENEWAL & REINVENTION

The exhibition shows what is being made today – and by whom – across basketry’s
beautiful variety of shapes, materials and weaves.” Jane Audas

‘Colour is a leading feature in my work and the pieces in this exhibition aim to explore the relationships that are formed when colours are brought together. Choosing softer, more muted tones as the main framework within my baskets allows the stronger colours to stand out and catch the eye.’ Rachel Bower
